What you need to know when installing Solar

Too many homeowners make these mistakes when they decide to have Solar installed on their property.

It is very important to do your due diligence when looking to have Solar Power installed on your property. This can be the difference between a system that breaks in two years, and a system that lasts 12+ years.

3 types of companies to avoid when installing home solar.

  1. We find that so many homeowners and business owners invite underqualified companies in to “provide a quote” and “gain a bit more information”. As a result, these people are often pressured to sign up on the spot without even getting a second quote or opinion. When they do a second opinion and challenge the first quote it’s amazing how quickly the price drops to meet the second opinion. Last week our team were forwarded a quote from a potential customer and that had been quoted $9,300 for a system that was worth $7,300 at most if put out to the masses to quote.

  2. Then there is the other side of the coin, where you find companies that will go to the absolute bottom dollar to get an install. In this situation, it is quite likely that the sales company will be paying subcontractors very little to do your installation. This often leads to a rushed job and very dodgy install, that can have major repercussions in the future

  3. The other outcome is that it’s a very small operation that likely operates at the complete bottom dollar. Due to the competitive nature of the market, these companies are unlikely to survive long term. This means they won’t be around to honour any warranties or follow-ups in the future, costing you even more in the long run.

Top tips for going Solar

When looking to go solar, use a company that:

Generally, if a company ticks all of these boxes then you can feel safe knowing they are likely going to do right by their customers. Using an online sales machine that doesn’t meet any of the points mentioned above, could lead to you being ripped off.
