Queensland Hospital 39.6kW Solar Design & Installation

20/04/2022

Our Gardel Electrical team were contracted to complete this installation for Dirranbandi Hospital in November 2021. We worked closely with the Darling Downs Health team to determine the Hospital’s usage requirements and energy needs and came up with the tailored design for this 39.6 kW solar PV system.

This Solar System has consistently produced over 6 MWh of renewable energy every month, on average, since it was installed. At Gardel Electrical we focus on designing systems that are not only highly functional and built to last but are also visually appealing and non-intrusive.

Our team of trained solar designers created this system to ensure it would receive maximum sun throughout daylight hours. This helped to guarantee that Dirranbandi Hospital and the team at Darling Downs Health received the best return on their investment. Our experienced CEC Accredited Solar Installers then worked to ensure that every panel was perfectly straight, the system was fully connected, and that everything was done in line with our strict code (as well as meeting all AU/NZ Standards).

Designed with only the best products, this 39.6kW PV Solar System consists of:

  • 88 x Canadian Solar Photovoltaic Module CS3W-450MS

  • 1 x 30 kW SolarEdge Inverter SE30K

  • 44 x SolarEdge Optimizers P-950

  • Clenergy Racking System to suit the roof profile

This system has produced over 35 MWh of energy (equivalent to 40,000 kilowatt-hours) in the six months between when it was installed in November 2021 to April 2022 when this report was created.

The Dirranbandi Hospital has now saved over 18,300 kilograms of CO2 Emissions from entering the atmosphere, thanks to this high-quality Solar PV System. The system is currently responsible for generating over 30% of the total energy consumed by the hospital in a year, reducing their electricity bills by this same amount.

The Self-Consumption Rate for this System = 98% (very high)

The self-consumption rate is the percentage of the total electricity generated, that was consumed by the site. Consuming as much of the energy generated as possible is the best way to get the highest return on investment for a solar system. This is because any energy that isn’t consumed by the property is fed back into the grid and, on average, is worth only half the value. For this reason, increasing the self-consumption rate is the key to getting the best savings from a solar system.

Huge thank you to the team at Darling Downs Health and Dirranbandi Hospital for working with our team at Gardel Electrical to design and create this Solar PV System.
