Repeat client, James Anthony Construction, was undertaking a colossal 7,500m2 warehouse project in Acacia Ridge for Priestley’s Gourmet Delights, a leading wholesale food manufacturer. Due to ongoing rooftop equipment installation, the team sought out Gardel Electrical & Solar for a customised solar design solution that would work seamlessly both during construction and after completion.
Having outgrown their existing facility in Morningside, Brisbane, Priestley's Gourmet Delight required a larger space to facilitate streamlined manufacturing automation. Additionally, as part of the project's approval process, Brisbane City Council mandated the switch from gas ovens to electric, which would add a significant 3200 amp load to the system, making solar energy an essential element.
Given the project's scale and complexity, James Anthony Construction needed an in-house solar design and installation expert, one who could effortlessly collaborate with the intricate network of other contractors involved in the build
Keeping these requirements in mind, our in-house design and engineering team created a 500kW system, using Astronergy panels and Sungrow inverters. During the building process, additional rooftop space opened up, so the team quickly added a further 220kW to the system for maximum efficiency and return. With an end-to-end team, this task was easily completed, with the on-site and design teams making the necessary changes to accommodate the larger system. The upgraded system will generate a huge 1,100,000kW per annum.
This system was activated in February 2024, so check back after March for the savings, self-consumption rate and rate of return. Spoiler alert, it’s going to be excellent.
